Natural phenomena like wildfires, volcanoes, and other types of underwater thermals vents can be responsible for thermal pollution. However, this thermals pollution can also be possible if any industrial process and facilities use a large amount of water from any natural sources and as a result, it produces heated wastewater.

Using Water As a Cooling Agent– Water often works as the machinery cooling agent. Returning the used water often alters the temperature of the water body.
Other Natural causes- Natural causes like hot springs, volcanos, and geothermal vents can spread heat to water bodies.
Thermal pollution affects marine ecosystems, decreasing and dissolving the oxygen levels along with increasing the toxicity. When water comes back from any industrial use it contains many harmful chemicals. And by releasing it thermals pollution can happen.
